Teacher Appreciation Week 2027: Dates, Theme Ideas and How Local Businesses Can Help

Teacher Appreciation Week 2027 runs May 3 to 7. Here's how PTAs and local businesses can plan ahead, plus theme ideas teachers will love.

Small businesses are in a great spot to show up for Teacher Appreciation Week. You know your community, you can move fast, and a little local love goes a long way with teachers and the families who adore them.

Teachers pour countless hours (and plenty of their own money) into the kids in our communities. Teacher Appreciation Week is the perfect excuse for PTAs and local businesses to say thank you in a way teachers actually feel. If you start planning now, 2027 can be the best one yet.

When is Teacher Appreciation Week 2027?

Teacher Appreciation Week happens the first full week of May. In 2027, that’s Monday, May 3 through Friday, May 7, with National Teacher Day on Tuesday, May 4.

It sneaks up fast once spring hits. PTAs usually lock in a theme and sponsors by early spring, so if your business wants to be part of it, reaching out in January or February gives everyone time to plan something great instead of something rushed.

Why local businesses should get involved

If your customers are parents, families or anyone with school-aged kids, Teacher Appreciation Week puts you right where they already are: their school community. That’s a lot more meaningful than another ad in their feed.

A few simple ways to show up:

  • Sponsor a day. Cover the coffee bar, breakfast or a lunch for the staff, and let the PTA give you a shout-out.
  • Donate something useful. Gift cards, classroom supplies or a service teachers would love (hello, free car wash or a massage).
  • Offer a teacher discount that week. Easy to run, easy to share, and teachers remember who thought of them.
  • Share the love online. Post thank-yous for local teachers (with permission) and tag the school or PTA.

The goodwill is real, and so is the word of mouth. Parents talk, and they notice which businesses show up for their kids’ teachers. If you’re thinking about how this fits into your bigger plan, our guide to writing a marketing plan is a good place to start.

Theme ideas for Teacher Appreciation Week 2027

A theme gives the whole week a little personality and makes planning easier for the PTA, the families and any businesses chipping in. A few favorites:

  • Lights, Camera, Action! Roll out the red carpet and treat teachers like the stars they are.
  • Rockstar Teachers: A “Walk of Fame” with fun superlatives celebrating each teacher’s special strengths.
  • Reach for the Stars: Celebrate how teachers help students dream big, with a space theme that’s easy to decorate.
  • Future So Bright: Sunglasses, sunshine and a nod to the bright futures teachers help build.
  • Out of This World: For the teachers who go above and beyond, every single day.
  • Field Trip of a Lifetime: A celebration of the curiosity and adventure teachers bring to learning.

Need a hand planning?

Whether you’re a PTA mapping out the week or a local business that wants to sponsor something meaningful, we’d love to help you plan it, promote it and make it look great. And PTAs, if your website is held together with six different links, we build PTA websites too, in exchange for a sponsorship instead of a big bill.
